SOUTH ICELAND
South Iceland has been one of my favorite places to explore thus far during my now 5 years worth of visits. No matter how many times you see the same are there’s always something different that catches your eye. During this trip I ventured into central Iceland to Þórsmörk and the Katla Ice Cave.
Þórsmörk, known as the Valley of Thor, is a mysterious place that requires some skill to get to as you’re met with some deep river crossings and jagged F-road terrains. It’s full of lush green valley’s, slopping mountains and backdrops Eyjafjallajökull and Mýrdalsjökull. This area is a well know area for filming.
From there I visited the Katla Ice Cave also located in the highlands by the Mýrdalsjökull glacier. This cave is filled with Dragon Ice.
I fniished up my trip gettnig up close and personal with Svínafellsjökull, an outlet glacier from the mighty Vatnajökull ice cap.
